Headmaster's Welcome

A very warm welcome to Frewen College.

The Dyslexia School

It is my privilege to be Headmaster of this wonderful school, and it  gives me great pleasure to welcome you. Frewen College is an independent, coeducational day and boarding school for students aged 7-19 specialising in Dyslexia and co-occurring Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs).

We are located in the beautiful East Sussex countryside and provide a high-quality learning environment that truly unlocks each student's fullest potential, enabling them to: Believe, Aspire and Achieve; making us The Dyslexia School.

We believe we are the oldest dyslexia school in the country (and, indeed, the world!), making us the true experts in all things dyslexia! As specialists, we embed the most effective, evidence-based teaching methods to support the development of all students. In addition, our small class sizes mean that our staff get to know all the students extremely well, enabling them to adapt learning to best support each individual.

I hope that our website gives you a flavour of life at Frewen. To truly experience the magic, you need to visit; I would be delighted to welcome you and introduce you to Frewen!

Headmaster's Welcome

Frewen/British Dyslexia Association Videos

Frewen College was asked by the British Dyslexia Association and Patoss (The professional association of teachers of students with specific learning difficulties) to take part in a series of information films showing best dyslexia teaching practice.

  • Film 1: Using Multi-Sensory methods

This film is about how Frewen staff use 'age appropriate' multi-sensory teaching methods to help students memorise and recall information. Multi-sensory teaching can help reluctant learners by making learning fun and you will see how, at Frewen, we enable students to access learning in a variety of ways.
